The Pharr Produce District has seen a tremendous amount of growth. Currently, the city owns 70 feet of right-of-way for future expansion and has an additional 300 acres of space available for future development. The projected growth of the area and plans for expansion will help supplement the increasing number of truck crossings and produce inspections. In addition, construction is nearly complete on a measure by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection in association with TxDOT and City of Pharr to streamline traffic from import area to inspection facility.
